A complete men's wear supply base

Men's wear is a category where buyers rarely need a single product. A typical programme mixes formal shirts with casual shirts, chinos with formal trousers, and t-shirts with polos and light knitwear, and each of those garments comes from a different kind of factory with different machinery and different competence. VP Global Exim covers the whole range by placing each garment type with the unit best equipped to make it, then presenting the entire order to you as one contract, one quality standard and one shipment.

On the woven side we supply formal and business shirts, casual and printed shirts, oxford and linen shirts, half-sleeve and full-sleeve constructions, formal trousers, chinos, cotton casual trousers, cargo trousers, shorts and cargo shorts. On the knit side we supply single-jersey and pique t-shirts, polos, henleys, sweatshirts, hooded sweatshirts, joggers and light sweaters. Woven and knit outerwear such as overshirts, jackets and gilets is available where the range needs a layering piece.

The specification approach is the same across all of it. Your tech pack, sealed sample or reference garment becomes a written production file covering fabric, construction, trims, measurement chart, tolerance table, labelling and packing. That file is shared with the factory, our quality team and you, so approvals are made against a document rather than a conversation. Where you do not have a tech pack, we build one from a reference garment and your target landed cost.

Fabric and fit for woven shirts

Shirting is judged on fabric hand, collar behaviour and fit consistency, in that order. We supply cotton poplin, twill, oxford, chambray, dobby, satin, seersucker, flannel and linen or linen-blend shirtings, along with cotton-polyester and easy-care finished fabrics where reduced ironing is a selling point. Weights run from around 90 GSM for lightweight summer shirting to 160 GSM and above for flannels and heavier casual constructions, with yarn counts specified rather than left to the mill's discretion.

Collar and cuff construction is documented in detail because it determines how the garment reads on a hanger. We specify interlining type and weight, fusing temperature and pressure, collar style and point length, whether collar stays are removable or sewn in, cuff shape and button count, placket type and width, yoke construction, and whether the back is plain, pleated or darted. Fused and non-fused constructions are both available; the choice is made against price point and market preference, and it is recorded so a repeat order does not quietly change.

Fit is controlled through graded patterns rather than proportional scaling. Slim, regular and classic fits are built as separate blocks with their own chest, waist, hip and sleeve relationships. Sleeve length, neck size and body length are graded independently for numeric neck sizing where a market expects it. Pre-production samples are made in bulk fabric and, where the fabric will be washed or given an easy-care finish, are processed before measurement so signed-off dimensions reflect the finished garment.

Shrinkage is the recurring shirting problem, and we handle it by testing rather than by allowance guessing. Each fabric is tested for dimensional change after home laundering at the intended care temperature, and the result is written into the marker. Buyers selling into markets that launder hot receive a shrinkage allowance calculated for that temperature, which is the difference between a shirt that fits after three washes and one that does not.

Trousers, chinos and bottom-weight production

Men's bottoms are produced across the full weight range: lightweight cotton and linen casual trousers, mid-weight chinos in cotton twill and cotton-elastane, formal trousers in polyester-viscose and wool-blend suiting, cargo and utility trousers in canvas and ripstop, and shorts in the same constructions. Bottom weights typically run from 180 GSM to 320 GSM, with heavier fabrics available for workwear-influenced styles.

Construction is specified to the price point. Waistband options include curtain-lined formal waistbands with hook-and-bar closure, folded casual waistbands with belt loops, and part-elasticated or drawcord waistbands for comfort ranges. Pocketing fabric, pocket bag depth, fly construction, seat and inseam reinforcement, hem allowance for future alteration, and crease-setting or resin finishing are all documented. Where trousers ship unhemmed for in-store alteration, that is specified and the packing method adjusted.

Measurement control is stricter on bottoms than on tops because the tolerance a customer will accept is narrower. We measure waist relaxed and extended, hip, thigh, knee, leg opening, front rise, back rise, inseam and outseam at defined production intervals, logged by size and cutting lot. Chinos and formal trousers with a set crease are measured after pressing, since pressing changes the leg-line dimensions the customer actually sees.

Knitwear, t-shirts and polos

Our knit programme covers single jersey, pique, interlock, rib, fleece and loop-knit constructions from roughly 120 GSM through to 320 GSM. Cotton, combed cotton, cotton-polyester, cotton-elastane, polyester performance blends and viscose blends are all supplied, with combed and compact yarns specified where surface smoothness and reduced pilling matter. Garment-dyed, yarn-dyed stripe, engineered stripe, melange and printed constructions are available across the range.

T-shirts and polos are specified down to the details that determine perceived quality: neck rib width and composition, shoulder-to-shoulder taping, twin-needle or single-needle hemming, side-seamed or tubular body, sleeve construction, placket length and button count on polos, collar and cuff rib type, and whether collars are self-fabric, flat-knit or jacquard. Printing options include screen print, discharge, plastisol, water-based, high-density, puff, foil, flock and digital direct-to-garment, along with embroidery and applied badges.

Knits fail on shrinkage and spirality more often than on construction, so both are tested. Dimensional change is measured after repeated home laundering, and spirality - the twisting of a tubular garment after wash - is measured and controlled through fabric selection, compacting and, where needed, a shift to side-seamed construction. Colour fastness to washing, rubbing and perspiration is tested on dark and bright shades, which are the ones most likely to generate complaints.

Sizing systems and size-set approval

Men's wear ships into markets with genuinely incompatible sizing conventions, and getting this wrong wastes an entire delivery. We produce to alpha sizing from S to 5XL, to numeric waist and inseam combinations, to numeric neck and sleeve sizing for formal shirts, and to European, UK and US convention as required. Where a buyer sells across several markets, we can produce the same style in different size sets with market-specific labelling, packed and marked separately.

A size set is made and approved before bulk on every new block. That means one garment in each size, measured against the tolerance table, so grading errors surface before ten thousand pieces are cut. This step is skipped by a surprising number of suppliers and is the single most common cause of a delivery where the middle sizes fit and the extremes do not.

Tall, short and plus grading is available as separate blocks rather than as an extension of the standard grade, because a 5XL produced by scaling an L is wrong in the armhole and the rise even when the chest measurement is correct. If your customer base skews to any of these, tell us at the specification stage and we will build the block properly.

Quality assurance across mixed men's wear orders

A mixed men's wear order carries more quality risk than a single-product order simply because there are more processes involved. We run the same four-checkpoint programme across every garment type: fabric inspection before cutting on a four-point system, in-line inspection during sewing, end-of-line inspection after finishing and pressing, and final random inspection on packed cartons against an AQL 2.5 sampling plan.

Inspection criteria are set per garment type rather than applied generically. Shirts are checked for collar and cuff symmetry, fusing quality and bubbling, placket alignment, button and buttonhole placement, pattern matching at the yoke and pocket, and pressing quality. Trousers are checked for waistband construction, fly and zip function, crease alignment, seat and inseam strength, and measurement conformity after pressing. Knits are checked for neck rib recovery, seam stretch, print adhesion and cure, embroidery backing and dimensional stability.

Laboratory testing is arranged through in-house or independent laboratories according to your compliance programme. Typical scope covers dimensional change after laundering, colour fastness to washing, rubbing, water, perspiration and light, pilling and abrasion resistance, seam slippage and tensile strength, print crocking and wash durability, azo dyes and restricted-substance screening, and nickel release on metal trims. Oeko-Tex Standard 100 routing is available where the fabric mill and unit hold valid certification.

Every shipment leaves with a pre-shipment inspection report covering quantity offered, sample size drawn, defects by classification with photographs, measurement results by size, comparison against approved standards, and carton and marking verification. Where you use your own third-party inspector, we schedule the booking and give them access, and we do not ship on a pending result.

Private label, packing and presentation

Men's wear ships as private label under your brand. We produce woven main labels, care and content labels, size tabs, neck prints, hangtags, flashers, collar and cuff branding, embroidered chest logos, applied badges and branded buttons to your artwork, and confirm fibre content and care symbols against the destination market's labelling rules before printing. Retail-ready presentation includes price tickets, barcodes, security tags and pre-priced labelling applied at the factory.

Packing is built to the retail format rather than to a default. Formal shirts are typically folded on board with collar support, tissue, clips and a polybag; casual shirts and knits are folded and polybagged; trousers are folded or hung; and hanging shipments are packed on your own hangers in garment-on-hanger cartons. Solid-size, assorted-size and pre-pack ratios are all supported, and carton dimensions, weights and shipping marks are confirmed before packing starts.

For buyers supplying multiple store formats, we can pack to store-level allocations so cartons are cross-docked rather than opened and re-picked in your warehouse. That requires the allocation file before packing, so we ask for it at order confirmation rather than at the last minute.

Ordering men's wear through a merchant exporter

The advantage of buying a mixed men's wear range through us is consolidation without fragmentation. Shirts, trousers and knits can be produced in three specialised units and still arrive as one shipment, on one invoice, under one quality standard, with one set of documents. You do not manage three vendor relationships, three quality conversations or three freight bookings.

We also carry the commercial coordination. Fabric and trim are negotiated on combined volume, production is sequenced so the slowest garment type does not delay the sailing, and inspection is scheduled so all components are ready together. If one garment type runs late, we tell you early and offer the choice between holding the shipment or shipping in two parts with the cost consequence stated.
